Please join us on Tuesday, September 13, at the Lucky Labrador Brewing's Quimby Beer Hall as we welcome Kent Lewis, Chief Marketing Officer at Anvil/Deksia speaking on "The Web3 World: Why and How Brands are Marketing with NFTs and the Metaverse"
This is a SEMpdx and will be free of charge. SEMpdx will be providing pizza, salad and drink tickets for two (2) beverages.
Since the mid-1990s, virtual reality (VR) has been marketed as “the next big thing.” Decades later, blockchain, crypto currency, affordable computing power, and major investments in infrastructure by brands like Meta and Microsoft have created a tipping point in the form of NFTs and the metaverse. The promise outlined by RTFKT, Bored Ape Yacht Club and OpenSea means easy money in the form of minting NFTs to be gobbled up by GenZ and billionaires alike. Similarly, Meta, Decentraland and Sandbox promise an engaging environment rich with culture (art galleries, museums) fun (games and events) and commerce (real estate and marketplaces). But what is the reality for marketers? Where are the biggest opportunities (and pitfalls)? In this session, Deksia CMO, Kent Lewis, will outline opportunities for marketers in the Web3 world for organizations large and small.
As Chief Marketing Officer at Anvil/Deksia, Kent is responsible for the overall strategic direction of marketing, including evolving messaging and integration of their combined entities. As President and Founder of Anvil Media, Inc., he was responsible for managing operations, marketing and sales.Kent is a co-founder of SEMpdx, and created Formic Media, Anvil’s sister digital marketing agency designed to support small businesses, and has been an adjunct professor at Portland State University, where he currently teaches Search Engine Marketing. He is also an active member of SMART, starting as a volunteer reader, then joining the marketing committee, where he created and hosted a fundraiser event known as SMART Gala. For ten years, he was a member of the board at SMART and is still a volunteer reader. In 2007, he joined the Portland chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), where he was Membership Chair for five years. He regularly advises startups and sits on advisory boards for companies like CareSpace and PacificWRO. He also speaks regularly at industry events, is quoted in the press, and contributes to publications including Portland Business Journal and SmartBrief.
